Madrasa Tul Ilm
School Notes Overview:
Madrasa Tul Ilm serving under the guidance of the Qur’an and Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad, aims to provide learning opportunities in an Islamic environment. The school has a special responsibility to teach students the skills of communication, computation, social relations, creative thinking, and problem solving techniques in order to nurture moral values and model proper Islamic behavior. The beginnings of MTI School of Knowledge can be traced back more than fifteen years. It was originally a home schooling program established by four devoted sisters: Sr. Muslimah Mustafa, Sr. Jamila Al-Khattab, Sr. Mu’mina Blackman, and Sr. Saeeda Amatullah. The school began with the involvement of only a couple families. Soon, however, the program expanded from just two families to six. As more and more community members began to hear about us, interest began to rise, and suddenly an idea was born The community would gather to create a school offering an affordable, high-quality Islamic and standard American education to all children. The school has come a long way since the beginning. Little by little the school has added on to what it already had. The Masjid first started out with a small building downtown. The school that they had was a small home school consisting of about five students. Even with that it was still full time. After much hard work and determination they bought an area and began construction on a Masjid. The idea was to have a full time school in the basement area and the prayer area on the upper level....
