    Canton-Galva’s volleyball team opened Class 2A sub-state play Saturday with a stunning upset of Olpe, but ran out of magic in the second round. C-G shocked Olpe 25-18, 26-24 in the first round. Olpe had entered with a 21-13 record, while C-G was 11-18.

    McPherson High and Moundridge will be serving as volleyball sub-state hosts Saturday. MHS will be hosting a Class 5A event at the Roundhouse, where two teams move on to state.

    The McPherson area will be a basketball mecca starting today. Games begin at 5 p.m. at four sites -- McPherson College (two gyms), Elyria Christian School and Moundridge. The 9th-10th girls and boys will be playing at the college, with McPherson High having teams entered in both divisions.
