French Settlement Elementary, Sherwood Middle Magnet and St. James Episcopal were the only three schools from the area to receive the prestigious Blue Ribbon of Excellence award.

Seven Louisiana schools, including two in Baton Rouge, have been named Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. Of the two Baton Rouge schools, one is public, Sherwood Middle Academic Magnet School, and the other is private, St. James Episcopal Day School.

Sherwood Middle Academic Magnet School and St. James Episcopal Day School, both in Baton Rouge, were named Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence this morning by the U.S. Department of Education, two of seven in the state of Louisiana.
