School Notes:

  • Lake Michigan Academy is a state-recognized, non-profit school for children with learning disabilities and AD/HD in grades 1-12. We believe that teaching must be approached from a student-centered perspective, taking students where they are and progressing from that point. Some phrases to describe our program include:
  • Community of Learners
  • Self-Esteem Through Success
  • Teaching Advocacy and Independence
  • Different Learning, Different Teaching
  • Individualized Education
  • Remediation and Accommodation for Skill Development
  • Literacy in Every Class Or in the words of a few of our students:
  • "Small in size, but big in heart".
  • “My favorite thing about LMA is the school doesn’t manage you, they teach you how to manage yourself".

School Reviews

  • Recommended April 25, 2013 - Our son started here this year and the transformation has been dramatic. Where he was a "deer in the headlights" at our local elementary he now is learning at a pace he can handle, talking about school and really blossoming. If you have a child with LD and or ADHD I would highly recommend it. - Posted by Parent
