The Montview League has long been the Rodney Dangerfield of the San Gabriel Valley, even though two Montview League teams, Azusa and Duarte, advanced to the CIF-Southern Section Mid-Valley Division quarterfinals last year, and Duarte had some other deep playoff runs in recent years.

LA PUENTE - It's a new season for second-year coach Steve Hagerty and there's a new football star at Bishop Amat High School. Jay Anderson led the host Lancers to a season-opening, 28-14 victory over Dominguez High at Kiefer Stadium on Friday night.
