With one confirmed case of H1N1 novel influenza - "swine flu" - in Minnesota and a second probable case found shortly thereafter, school districts around the state are taking steps to ease the worries of parents as to the safety and preparedness of those districts.

At the urging of the state officials, Orono Schools closed the doors to all four of its schools Monday, May 4, while state officials awaited results to see if an illness connected to Orono High School was N1H1 novel influenza - "swine flu."

Tuesday, April 29 - Governor Pawlenty, Health Commissioner Dr. Sanne Magnan, State Epidemiologist Dr. Ruth Lynfield and Education Commissioner Alice Seagren will hold a press conference today at 9 a.m. to discuss the first "probable case" of swine flu in Minnesota.

Tuesday, April 29, 10 a.m. - Minnesota's first probable case of the so-called swine flu, Gov. Pawlenty said this morning, is "cause for concern, but it is not a cause for panic."
