Betty Medina's lifelong dream of opening her own beauty salon finally became a reality a little over a year ago when she took over Tranquility Hair Salon and Spa, located at 60-78 Flushing Avenue in Maspeth. Born in Woodside and raised in Maspeth, Medina routinely worked at her craft by practicing on Barbie dolls as a little girl.
