Barnes-miller Child Development Center
School Notes Overview:
Barnes Miller Child Development Center offers full-time care for children ages 6 to 18 months in our infant program. We are pleased to be able to offer one primary caregiver for each group of 4 children. The philosophy, which guides our infant environment, is based on Resources for Infant Educarers. We believe that even the smallest children are strong, capable, and unique; that the relationships they have are of primary importance in their lives. Using a portfolio system filled with photographs and descriptions, our caregivers meaningfully document each child's growth and development during their time together. Our Infants enjoy family style meals and snacks, predictable routines - including resting time, outside time and individual attention. They also explore the materials and activities created for them in the art studio. Each day, the caregivers work together to stimulate the children in their care with sensory activities, and language play. While some of the youngest children may sleep in cribs, no other devices are used which are intended to restrict the child's movement. Our classroom environments have been carefully created to offer each child a maximum amount of independence, freedom of movement and safety. Our goal at Barnes-Miller Child Development Center can best be described by our logo. Overall, our mission is to capture the whimsical joy of being a child! The children represent sports, the art of play. Each child is adorned with a large red heart, symbolizing the gateway in which love travels back and forth. The star symbol was incorporated to show how every child is a star. The physical symbol represents the math and science portion of their experience with us. The swirl is the Celtic symbol for "eternal youth". The field of stars becoming the children represents their bright future!...
