  • Children at Beginnings have the opportunity to become naturalists by using their innate senses of curiosity and wonder to increase their knowledge of the world outside our doors – into the great outdoors. Their appreciation for the natural forces and beings in the open-air environment become evident as they explore habitats in our own backyard. Beginnings’ natural surroundings provide the perfect “living labs” for children as they experience life in the children’s garden, field, woods and wetland. Through careful observations, selected activities and projects in these habitats, their awareness and understanding of the interdependence of all living things increases. Over a period of time the children see how life cycles, like those of seeds to plants, progress. They witness the development of new seeds, they determine how one plant can help another, and they understand how plants can provide food and shelter for animals and people. Within a healthy environment, life cycles continue to evolve and influence one another.
