Our goal is not to entertain children - parents can do so far more cheaply than sending them to Thomas Heyward Academy. The philosophy of Thomas Heyward Academy is in accord with the conservative belief that no learning takes place without hard work. The Academy's primary' mission is to educate students in the basic skills. The term is used in his field — explosive ordinance disposal — to describe anything that explodes, from a grenade to a nuclear bomb.

Former Jasper sheriff candidate shot O’Quinn ran for Jasper County Sheriff in 2007 in a special election following the death of Sheriff Ben Riley. Riley died in a car wreck in Bamburg County. O’Quinn unsuccessfully ran againstGregoryJenkins,thecurrent sheriff. O’Quinn retired as a DNR Marine Patrol Officer and is a certified firearms instructor.
