Monarch School is licensed by the State Board of Education of the State of Ohio, and is also a certified California non-public school, and is Illinois State Board of Education approved. Educational programs include a Preschool (ages 3-6); Lower, Middle, Upper & High School (ages 5-21); Transition Education Program (ages 14-21); and summer programs (ages vary).Monarch's visual language teaching model combines concept-driven language instruction with visual supports, technology and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Intensive therapeutic intervention is provided by a multidisciplinary team including speech/language pathologists, occupational therapists, behavior specialists, intervention specialists, music, art & recreational therapists, and associate teachers. Students receive one-on-one and small group instruction. Classes are taught in a natural environment and address social skill development, language and communication, executive functioning, academic skills, activities of daily living, fine and gross motor skills, sensory intervention, prevocational skills, and behavior support. Monarch's state-of-the-art facilitiesare intentionally designed to appease the sensory needs of students with a soft color palette, gentle up-lighting, extra sound proofing, odorless paint and carpet, special sensory rooms, private quiet rooms, adapted playgrounds, and gardens. Educational software, video modeling, iPads and other mobile devices, web-based tools, SMART Boards, and Augmentative Communication Devices are used liberally during the school day to supplement each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). Student and program progress are continually assessed with a unique data collection system that measures performance through parameters of independence, accuracy, participation, and behavior. Monarch's Extended School Year (ESY) and Summer Social Language Leadership Program (MSSLP) help maintain the consistency of the school year.
  • Monarch Boarding Academy (Therapeutic Residential Treatment):
  • Monarch Boarding Academy (MBA)is a co-ed therapeutic residential treatment facility for individuals ages 8 through 21 with moderate to severe autism; moderate autism with higher deficits in daily living skills; autism with maladaptive behaviors; or dual diagnosis autism with significant mental health issues. Degreed, certified and experienced staff are with residents twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Teams include master's level and licensed counselors, social workers, psychiatrists, and BCBAs who have ongoing consultation with campus-based speech/languagepathologists, intervention specialists, and occupational therapists. Individualized programs are designed based on each individual's unique needs with goals of increasing independence in all areas including communication, behavior management, activities of daily living, and vocational opportunities. Residents live in comfortable, secure, home-like cottages with single bedrooms, based on peer relationship skill sets. Each resident's day, from wakeup to bedtime, is highly structured and consistent. Residents are fully integrated with the larger Monarch School day student population.
