When Riverside County orders a school closure for H1N1, the action is immediate and without much warning for parents. It happened with Indio High School, Della Lindley Elementary School in Thousand Palms, and Thousand Palms Child Care Center. All parents should keep a few things in mind just in case other schools are shut down. - More younger children obese; trend affects Coachella Valley (The Desert Sun)

Nurse practitioner Rose Donnelly treated an 8-year-old boy Monday who is about 4 feet tall and weighs 130 pounds. A child of his age and height should weigh 70 pounds, she said.
