Founded in the Palmetto Bay, Florida community in 1982, our Winhold Montessori school began with a student body of ten and a staff of one assistant and Mrs. Eleanor Winhold.
By 1985, the school had expanded to three classrooms at two locations, and in 1990, the three Children's Houses became centralized in one location at Old Cutler Road.
In 2002 WMS moved to its current location conveniently located at the entrance of the new Palmetto Bay Park. We are dedicated to the principles of a true Montessori education which means that our school's environment is prepared and adapted in order to link the child to it through well thought out lessons and to facilitate the child's exploration and creativity.
The method of Montessori is based on the recognition that children are all different and must be treated individually; that children absorb knowledge best when the impulse to learn comes from their own mind; that children should eagerly desire to work at a project, thereby teaching themselves.

School Reviews

Me and My wife have talked this over and our child will not be returning to Winhold Montessori School. 17555 South Dixie Highway,Palmetto Bay, FL 33157 (Dissatisfied)You would think that this would not happen because we pay and trust Winhold to keep our child safe. This they did. Why I'm so mad is because I know my child and it takes him some time to pooh, When I picked my 2 year old up the pooh was dryed and he was crying after he poohed more and this was a pile of dry pooh stuck on his bottom that daddy had to clean. With all the money we pay this should never happen. When talking to Barry about this he acted a fool and tryed to say his staff would never do this. Ok so how did it get there after picking my child up from Winhold Montessori School and I found pile after pile of dryed pooh on my 2 year old thats potty trained. It seems like someone did not bring my child to the rest-room. Who cares the daddy will be here to pick him up he can clean him....They really want this to go away. Like nothing happen. Also put my childs clothes in the trash...
