The time is drawing closer for Briarwood Academy's first football game of the season at home Friday. And no one could be more excited than Briarwood second-year head coach John Osborne, who has been preparing for the season opener for weeks.

Briarwood Academy senior pitcher Cane Gilmer gave it everything he had and a little more in his complete game on the mound against David Emanuel Academy at the Briarwood field last Friday. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as the Eagles turned back the Bucs 5-1 in a cold and windy baseball outing.

The Briarwood Academy Diamond Buccaneers opened the season with only nine healthy players and a 7-2 win over Augusta Prep last week at Briarwood. "Overall, I was really excited with the way they played, and I'm looking forward to the season.
