A view of the 220-acre high school campus.  HPA is nestled at the base of the Kohala Mountains on the island of Hawai?'i. It faces the majestic mountain of Mauna Kea.
Students in HPA's Biotechnology class identify genetic code for Global Genomics Project, an international project to map the DNA of the planet?'s creatures large and small.
Students can be a part of our drama and musical performances as well as learn about theater production. There are many ways to get involved on stage or behind the scenes. Here is a scene from our fall musical,
Outrigger canoe paddling is just one of the many sport options at HPA. Each season, students are required to select a sport or activity for a daily two-hour period after the academic day.
Fine arts at HPA encompass a variety of art options such as beginning and advanced ceramics.
The Dowsett Swimming Pool is outdoor, heated, 25 meters x 25 yards, with two one-meter diving boards. Swimming, diving, scuba certification and girls' water polo are offered at the pool.
The HPA Upper School holds an annual International Day in February. Students participate in a variety of morning workshops, which could included Origami, Hanafuda, Calligraphy, Japanese Anime, Zumba, Diabolo, and Tinikling. International students prepared a mouth-watering luncheon menu featuring dishes from their respective countries. International performances wrap up the event.
