  • St. Mary 2nd-grader wins dream ride on fire truck
posted on January 10, 2013 at 04:08:27 pm
In this day and age of computers, international space stations and 3D computer imaging you don't really hear many little boys saying they want to be cowboys, mailmen or even firemen. But for Kiernan Deer, a second-grader at Saint Mary School in Buffalo Grove being a fireman and riding on a fire truck is his dream. He already has a pet dog, that is of course a Dalmatian, and he has a replica fire coat & hat. But he got closer to his dream the day he rode on a Buffalo Grove fire truck. Now you can't just walk into a fire station and ask to have a ride. The Buffalo Grove fire station that is just around the corner of Saint Mary School donated a ride on a fire truck to the Saint Mary School annual fundraiser Jingle Jubilee. The fire truck was made part of the silent auction. So the little boy's parents won it at auction – big deal. ADVERTISEMENT Well it wasn't so easy. You see the night of the fundraiser little Kiernan got sick and was running a high fever. His parents of course stayed home to take care of him. Luckily for Kiernan the assistant to the principal Mrs. Tomassetti knew how much Kiernan wanted that ride on the fire truck. Now if someone is not able to attend the fundraiser and they want to ...

School Reviews:

  • Recommended March 05,2013 - St. Mary is a wonderful environment for children to learn and grow as individuals. They are constantly advancing their academics and keeping pace with technology all while offering music, art & many other extras at no extra cost. It is a safe and welcoming community for all our children, where everyone knows their name. I highly recommend PreKthru 8th grade.*-Posted by Parent *
