In its 168th year, Blair continues to offer a superior college-preparatory program while holding firmly to its tradition of being a community fully focused on the development of each individual student.
In this environment, students learn to advocate for themselves, become service-minded, and develop the leadership skills necessary for success in college and beyond.
Students balance their academic work with extensive opportunities to develop in the arts, athletically, and in numerous extracurricular activities.
The balance between high academic and personal expectations and a willingness to provide individual focus is, if not unique to Blair, perhaps its greatest strength.

School Notes

  • The classrooms at Blair serve as forums for open debate, participation and experiential learning. Passionate about their subjects, a talented and diverse faculty brings enthusiasm and global perspective to lessons. Caring and committed to the individual, they serve as housemasters, advisors, coaches and friends while laying the necessary foundation for success at Blair and beyond. Outside of the classroom students are awarded numerous learning opportunities, ranging from weekly lectures as part of the Society of Skeptics, the longest continuously running high school lecture series in the country, to travel abroad with faculty and peers.
  • Through a dual advisory system, faculty advisors and academic monitors guide Blair students' personal growth. Blair is further set apart by allowing each student to choose his or her own advisor. Through ownership of this decision, students develop a strong sense of independence, responsibility and confidence in engaging the world around them.
  • In 2014 and 2015 respectively Blair added a Maker Space for innovation and collaboration in a laboratory/workshop setting and two new dormitories to the campus layout. Earlier additions were made to the exterior sports facilities to include a new turf field, ten new tennis courts, an improved all-weather track, stadium seating to accompany the turf field, and a tennis house. Our interior athletic space houses seven squash courts, a weight-lifting center, a fitness center, three basketball courts, a six-lane swimming pool, wrestling rooms, and ample locker space for students and coaches. During the summer of 2010, Blair experienced the change to pedestrian only traffic throughout central campus as part of a plan to develop a park like setting for recreation and study.
