The Woods Academy is an independent Catholic co-ed school located in beautiful Bethesda, Maryland. We serve 300 students in the Washington DC Metropolitan area, including Montgomery County Maryland, Northern Virginia, and the District of Columbia. The Woods Academy provides an unparalleled education for children from Montessori Pre-School to Eighth Grade with strong academics, a daily foreign language program, hands-on technology instruction, and a well-rounded arts program, all conducted in a small classroom setting.

    Joseph E. Powers has been named as New Head of School at The Woods Academy, an independent Catholic co-educational school in Bethesda. Powers, who assumes his duties July 1, will replace Head of School Mary Worch, who announced her retirement last Fall. Powers currently serves as Headmaster at the Washington Jesuit Academy in Washington, D.C.
