- The Henderson International School programs challenge students to explore their full potential as Leaders, Educators, Community Builders, and Stewards of the Earth. Beginning in Pre-Kindergarten all the way through 12th Grade, our child-centered curriculum is designed to be an exciting educational journey filled with discovery, friendship, and joy.
- Our diverse learning community asks each member to help us create a school culture that inspires confidence, creativity, understanding, health, self-discipline, and a genuine respect for others. Small class sizes, highly-qualified educators, and plenty of individual attention provide students with a secure and nurturing environment that gives every child the best chance to succeed in college and in life.
- Success for students
Our student-centric approach ensures that Henderson School students enjoy unprecedented opportunities both in and beyond the classroom. Extraordinary extracurricular activities and academic opportunities complement each other and support the development of well-rounded children who are prepared to attend the world’s finest universities and compete in today’s global economy.
- Imagine a School…
…where you learn by doing, where classroom instruction is connected to the real world, where service and wilderness travel are vital parts of your education, and where the joy of discovery and friendship is combined with the acquisition of new knowledge and skills.
…where you are inspired to use your imagination and creativity, set personal learning goals, design your own learning expeditions, and do work that is real and makes a difference.
…where your classmates and educators support you as you learn to face any challenge in life, be a caring community member, and succeed beyond what you ever thought possible.
- Pre-School
Our Pre-School program provides an organized, cumulative learning experience suited to each child’s own maturity level and developmental timeline. Through a variety of enriching activities, each child grows cognitively, socially, emotionally, creatively and physically under the watchful guidance of caring educators.
- Lower School (Kindergarten – 4th Grade)
Our Lower School offers a full-day academic Kindergarten program, a Developmental Kindergarten program, and enriched programs including Accelerated Reading, Saxon Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Spanish, Computers, Art, Music, Library Skills and Physical Education. This well-rounded program recognizes that each student is a unique individual possessing diverse set of strengths. Our highly qualified faculty members create a safe, friendly, and lively classroom environment.
- Middle School (Grades 5-8)
Our Middle School is designed to accommodate the academic and social needs of students who have the ability and motivation to succeed in a pre-collegiate curriculum. Using the International Baccalaureate program as the foundation, our rigorous academic program introduces students to the habits of critical thinking and asks them to investigation of the scientific principles, historical perspective, language, and applied mathematics. Beyond the classroom, students explore and develop their talents through a full menu of athletics, music, theater, and the arts.
- High School
Our High School students begin their college preparatory academic program by taking five core courses in English, Math, History, Science, and a Foreign Language. As students progress beyond the ninth grade, those with exceptional abilities in various academic areas are challenged by Honors/Advanced Placement classes. All high school students use laptop computers on our wireless network to produce the highest quality work. A wide range of athletic, travel, and extra-curricular activities allows students to develop their leadership, teamwork, and artistic abilities both on-campus and within the larger community.
- Travel & Enrichment Programs
Because we believe in providing a fully rounded education, students will participate in a growing array of travel and enrichment programs that range from wilderness expeditions to exchange programs at one of many Meritas schools around the world. Explore Week programs offer an exciting array of new travel and hands-on learning opportunities. In addition, The Henderson International School encourages students to explore their artistic side through band, choir, theater and other art offerings. Finally, there are a healthy number of student-run clubs, e.g., Science, Fitness, and Chess
