I would like to first start off by saying how thankful I am to have made the ''best" decision in my life. Being an educator myself, I was extremely stressed out in choosing the school that would fit our family with the academic and developmental goals, morals, beliefs, and etc. Having a daughter who can read at a second grade level at two years old, I knew that I had to take many factors into consideration before making "the" decision. I have toured six different private schools before my daughter turned one, and without a doubt, I have picked Fairmont Historic Anaheim Campus (Former Citron) to be the perfect fit for our family and most of all, our daughter. Fairmont Historic Anaheim (FHA) campus provides something very unique that any parent who is devoted to their child's education would definitely be interested. Every educator and parent knows that a child has thousands of new brain connections forming every second and how the critical age period never comes back. Having that said, I do not understand why there are so many day-care centers, but not many schools with actual curriculum that is fit to enhance our child's learning ability. If anything, it would be even better for FHA to start a program that gears towards students who are even younger than two years old so that my son who is nine months old could enroll. I''m sure there will be many parents who would be interested in such programs. For the preschool program, I have decided to give up my job opportunity at UCI and take a job at CSUF and commute almost 2 hours to Anaheim every morning to make sure that my daughter will be able to experience FHA. Another incident that made me fall in love with FHA was with Ms. Patsy Bauman. On my third tour of FHA with my daughter's friends and their parents(one of them is a Fairmont family now), I was in Ms. Bauman's class observing the classroom. The students were out, and I was walking around the classroom carefully observing all that the students have created when I noticed cockroaches were right next to me. I yelled and used the word, "gross" in front of the children. Ms. Bauman politely pulled me aside to let me know that certain behaviors like that could have a negative impact on our children. On the way back home, my husband and I could not have been happier with FHA, especially Ms. Bauman. Ms. Bauman did not compromise her high standards that she holds for her students and their parents, even to a prospective parent who was on a tour. I believe Ms. Bauman reflects many teachers at FHA, and hence, another reason why FHA was my first choice. FHA offers wonderful extracurricular acitivites that enhance the students'' learning abilities- science, sports, piano, cooking, music, and many more. My daughter is absolutley in love with these classes and can't get enough. Also, FHA offers an ASSIST program that is lead by Ms. Moran. This ASSIST program was one of the many reasons why I chose FHA. If your child has a gift or needs extra help in a particular learning skill, FHA will accomodate to each child's needs and make sure that no student will be left behind bored or unnoticed. As you can read from this email, my heart is with Citron, Fairmont. It is difficult to hear that Ms. Douglas will be retiring, but it's even more unbelievably difficult to imagine that Citron's future is not clear. I sure hope that I will be able to provide the same education to my son and have him follow his sister's footsteps.
