School Notes Overview: |
Swallowtail School is an independent school rooted in Waldorf Education, and we maintain an active interest in progressive education as well. This is revealed through our curriculum, methodologies, faculty and community. Our teachers work in freedom, to realize the basic Swallowtail School philosophy and program. They bring a variety of experiences, training, and insights into the classroom, aspiring to cultivate reverence and personal meaning, while enlivening the learning experiences for their students. The Waldorf approach to education nurtures the child's whole being, working from the hands (physical) through the heart (emotional and spiritual) to the mind (intellectual). Material presented to the children is connected directly to human experience-observation, experimentation, and participation-so that it awakens the student's enthusiasm and interest. Here at Swallowtail School we look always toward the development of character and community. We value creativity in all disciplines and present an aesthetic of simplicity. ...read more
