Sarah Schmid remembers clearly the day in March she told her mom she was named valedictorian at The King's Academy in Seymour. "She was so happy for me, and she couldn't wait to see me graduate," said Schmid, 18. But a week later, on March 15, April Schmid lost her battle with lung cancer and passed away at the age of 48. - Wednesday's results (San Jose Mercury News)
