Dying mother inspires Valedictorian to graduate with 4.0 GPA (Knoxville News Sentinel)

Sarah Schmid remembers clearly the day in March she told her mom she was named valedictorian at The King's Academy in Seymour. "She was so happy for me, and she couldn't wait to see me graduate," said Schmid, 18. But a week later, on March 15, April Schmid lost her battle with lung cancer and passed away at the age of 48.

Local pastor, Fulton grad to perform benefit concert Local worship pastor, recording artist and Fulton High School graduate Tim Parker will perform a benefit concert in the Fulton High School auditorium at 7 p.m. May 15. Doors open at 6 p.m.
