- The British School of Houston was the third of the British Schools of America to open, opening its doors in September 2000. The unique and international style of the school has proven popular and attractive to a wide variety of American, British and international families in the Houston metro area. Today, BSH's enrolment comprises of approximately 565 students, with the majority being American and British. Over forty nationalities are represented. The British School of Houston 14 acre campus is located west of downtown Houston, with easy access from 1-610, I-290 and other thoroughfares. The British School of Houston aims to provide a broadly based and tailored British style education for students from Nursery to Year 13. Delivered by youthful, energetic teachers and staff, BSH's curriculum represents the very best of current practice in the United Kingdom with an international perspective appropriate to its American home. The diversity of the student body is not merely respected but cherished and celebrated. The school is part of the British Schools of America, a division of the WCL Group, a British company which also operates Fieldwork Education and Compass International Schools. The British Schools of America also operates sister schools in Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Chicago and Boston. A young boy who attended school in Houston was among the victims of the Air France jet crash. Alexander Bjoroy, 11, lived in Houston from 2003 to 2005 and was a student at The British School on Watonga.
