School Notes:

  • The Clearwater School is located on North Creek, in Bothell, Washington. Our spacious four-acre grounds provide endless opportunities for discovery of wildlife, outdoor play and explorations of open fields, woods and creek frontage. Students move freely through our six buildings as they pursue a range of passions including: drawing, painting, sewing, dance, theater, music, building, creating imaginary worlds, playing limitless games and talking for hours on end. We are a Sudbury school where kids, from ages 4-19, direct their own education in an environment of undiluted freedom and democracy. Students decide how to spend their time, govern their community and assume responsibility for their lives. Kids experience directly how their actions affect others and the community. They discover that using the strength of their voices influences the course of their lives. In this environment learning is limitless—students engage wholeheartedly in their passions and never lose their love of learning. Clearwater graduates move into adulthood as self-confident, articulate and resourceful adults. Bus service is available from Seattle.
