School Notes:

  • Lucy School's arts-based curriculum uses the emotional, social, and sensory dimensions of the arts to engage students, encourage critical thinking, and influence development and learning across the curriculum. It connects the content of art to children's personal experiences and their need to make meaning from the world. Arts-based learning makes the arts an interdisciplinary partner with other subjects and orchestrates higher order thinking using the creative problem solving process. Students are provided rich experiences in the arts and thoughtful integrated curriculum that makes deep structural connections between the arts experiences and other subjects. This enables students to learn both deeply. Arts-based teaching is more hands-on than traditional teaching, offering children more opportunities to experience "living through situations" than they would in a traditional classroom, thereby developing a level of critical thinking and problem solving skills that is not afforded in traditional educational settings. This is supported by ample research in the field of arts integration. Since the primary grades were established at Lucy School, the majority of children leaving are above grade level in all subject areas.

Make Summer a Special Time! Make Summer a Special Time!
If you have children in private school, then you are most likely looking at three months, perhaps even longer, which you must fill with activities of one kind or another during the long summer break.

Are You Liable? Are You Liable?
Is your DEL key about to get gaveled? It doesn't matter whether you teach in a public or private school setting. You expose yourself to legal risks every single day on the job.
