    We don’t have our priorities straight. Somehow, we can figure out how to get almost $3 billion for a bullet train that most Floridian’s won’t be able to use. Somehow, we can get $51,000 every year to house a juvenile in a secure facility. Somehow, we can get $20,000 each year to house an adult prisoner. But we can’t get even $7,000 for a public school slot and not even $3,000 for a pre ...
  • Rain doesn't dampen spirits at this year's final Summer Run for Fun (Naples Daily News)

    Rain hampered the Summer Run for Fun all summer and Monday was no different. Storms forced the final day of events to be canceled at Barrier Collier High School, but the awards banquet went on as planned and 132 kids took home trophies, T-shirts and a coupon for a fruit smoothie at McDonald's.

    The Conservancy of Southwest Florida recently honored several local high school students at a ceremony when they received their “Docent” designation and badge for their volunteer work in the Conservancy Discovery Center.

    The Barron Collier JV basketball team attended the Fort Myers Shoot Out camp from June 21 to June 23. Ten local JV high school teams from the area attended. The Cougars, with a 7-1 record in the tournament, went on to beat undefeated Fort Myers 65-56 for the championship.
