School Notes:

  • Through discipline, dedication and hard work, students master the basic skills of language arts and computation to develop patterns of creative, logical, analytical, and critical thought. Students discover and enhance their talents through elective course offerings, athletics, and co-curricular programs aimed at developing skills and self-confidence. Judeo-Christian principles are fostered, as is a respect for the Scottish heritage upon which the school was founded.

School Reviews

  • Recommended December 03, 2013 - I am currently a Junior at St. Andrew''s. I entered the school in 6th grade, previously attending Blessed Sacrament School. The unmatched rigor, unique student to factuality relationship, and student independence drew me towards the school and have significantly exceeded my expectations. While the academic assets can be confirmed by statistics, the environment at St. Andrew''s is a more difficult trait to convey. Without exaggeration, I can say that the faculty are truly outstanding. Each teacher not only cares about the success of each student, but is happy to work with the student outside of the classroom in order to yield the desired end. The relatively close proximity in age between faculty and students allows for a relatability that more successfully translates knowledge. The faculty also places an immense amount of trust on the student body as a whole, teaching students responsibility and self generated initiative. Switching to St. Andrew''s has by far been the best decision I have made in my educational career. - Posted by Student/Alumni
  • Recommended November 19, 2013 - I''m a senior at St. Andrew''s this year and I''ve been attending this school since kindergarten. The thing I love most about St. Andrew''s is the sense of community, the faculty, and all the great friends I''ve made. The classes are small, so I can easily ask a teacher questions whenever I feel the need, and I think this enhances my learning experience. I''m taking the IB program, which is a challenging program. I think the program is challenging, but not too challenging which motivates me to do better and better every day. I''ve loved spending all of my school years at St. Andrew''s and would recommend it to anyone who wants a unique educational experience filled with new technology, an great opportunity for success, a fantastic learning environment, and great students and faculty. - Posted by Student/Alumni
  • Recommended November 07, 2013 - I am currently a senior at St. Andrew''s school. I have attended SAS since I was in third grade and I have loved every single second of my experience here. St. Andrew''s consists of a family aspect and challenging academics which is my favorite. The past few years we have integrated technology into the classroom and this is one of the best decisions St. Andrew''s has ever made. It is important for education to move along with the outside world and 21st teaching/technology. That is exactly what SAS has done and I think it has benefitted everyone in a positive way. St. Andrew''s also uses IB (international baccalaureate) instead of AP and I am a current full IB student and it provides a more challenge to the students and I really would have to say that is my favorite part. We are a small school, which is very beneficial in the classroom. You get one on one time with the teacher, so what appears to be very difficult concepts become a little easier because of the amount of help and extra time we get with the teachers. St. Andrew''s not only has great academics, but we do have a great sports program. We have a no cut policy so anyone and everyone can play any sport they would like. I really like this because it gives each student an opportunity to try something they might not get to at another school. At St. Andrew''s, you tend to eventually know everyone and it brings us a lot closer, which I love about my school. - Posted by Student/Alumni
  • Recommended October 29, 2013 - St. Andrew''s school is absolutely DEDICATED to an individualized student approach by embracing its small-school, island identity. The faculty, staff, and students also engage in activities geared toward global competencies through 21st century teaching and learning and integrated technology. Committed to sustainable practices, the school is an Apple Distinguished institution with iPads and MacBook Airs for all students in grades 5-12 reducing textbook load and paper consumption. Knowledge is built upon skills--collaboration, communication, creativity, critical-thinking and problem-solving, and character. The curriculum focuses on preparing students for a dynamic future rather than static content and as an International Baccalaureate Diploma Program, students ask the "why" behind information, routinely get accepted to the highest tier of colleges and universities, and engage as members of a global community. The IB program is HIGHER level and open access. Unlike other local public schools with IB, all students are able to enroll in the IB and the school emphasizes the highest rigor level of the program, rather than the lowest. - Posted by Administrator
