School Notes:

  • Under the direction of the Congregation of Christian Brothers, Brother Rice High School has educated young men since its inception in 1956.  Sharing the charism of our founder, Blessed Edmund Rice, the faculty and staff work each day to instill the mission of Edmund through the Essential Elements of a Christian Brother Education.  Brother Rice High School is proud to partner with parents in the community who wish to provide their sons with an exemplary, faith-based education.

Brother Rice High School was recognized by ACT as one of only 382 high schools across the country, and one of two high schools in the city of Chicago, that met the ACT’s exacting criteria for rigorous core courses. Jon Erickson, Vice President of Educational Services for ACT, said Brother Rice, “is clearly a leader in preparing all high school students for postsecondary education.”

The completion of several capital improvements has added to the educational, athletic, and social experiences at Brother Rice High School.  Artificial turf and seating for the football field, a major renovation, is now joined by a new, state-of-the-art science wing; new computers in each classroom, the Pilon Library, Cainkar Center, Liebentritt Center, and Wakerly Lab; Smartboards in the classrooms; a mobile computer lab and math learning lab; and the 100 space parking lot and brand new digital sign outside the front of the school on Pulaski Road.

The 2011-2012 school year begins Wednesday, August 18, when the incoming freshmen report for orientation. Open house dates for interested families will be Sunday, November 14 and December 5 from 11 A.M. to 1 P.M. For more information, please contact Admissions Director Tim O’Connell ’03 at (773) 429-4312 or toconnell@brrice.org. Personal tours can also be scheduled at any time. Make Summer a Special Time! Make Summer a Special Time!
If you have children in private school, then you are most likely looking at three months, perhaps even longer, which you must fill with activities of one kind or another during the long summer break.
