The students in Mrs. Scott’s class of Highglen Montessori elementary are planning a University Hospital of Northern British Columbia gift box drive. Brooke Schwartz earned the top prize in the People's Choice elementary division of the Arts on the Bluff Festival on October 3. Brooke, an art student of Carol Fetcho at Immaculate Conception School in Columbia, turned her name into a mythical creature. She received a $25 gift card from Art Mart for art supplies. Two former student-athletes who have made valuable contributions were inducted into the Columbia Heights High School Hall of Fame last week. Larry Gallagher and Van Miller were recognized at a dinner on Oct. 9 and during halftime at the homecoming game. They joined 38 existing hall of fame members.
