Ronald Knox Montessori School (RKMS) is a parent-owned and professionally operated, non-profit Montessori preschool serving children between 15 months and six years of age. The school is one of the few schools receiving full accreditation by the American Montessori Society. As such, it enjoys a reputation that belies its small size. RKMS is located in Wilmette, Illinois, just north of downtown Chicago. Founded in 1963 by a group of parents committed to introducing Montessori education to Chicago's North Shore, the school remains fully committed to this teaching philosophy. Our brand new state-of-the-art facility heralds a wonderful new phase of our school's history. The much-anticipated building includes the latest safety features and the ability to consolidate all of our programs under one roof. Supporters of Ronald Knox Montessori School in Wilmette are moving forward in their efforts to raise funds for the continuing education of two school children whose father, Kevin Thomson, died in March after a courageous battle with a rare form of kidney cancer. Proceeds from a Sept. 13 event at Evanston's Lovelace Park are to go toward paying for the continuing education of Thomson's children.

Families from the Ronald Knox Montessori school gathered Saturday around a plaque and a tree planted in remembrance of a former student, 5-year-old Farrell Murray who died in June 2005.

Families from the Ronald Knox Montessori school gathered Saturday around a plaque and a tree planted in remembrance of a former student, 5-year-old Farrell Murray who died in June 2005. The flowering crabapple will be a reminder of the little girl who, though disabled by brain cancer, attended the Wilmette school's toddler program in 2002 and 2003.
