School Notes:
IND places top priority upon academics. In 2011, IND graduated 68 young women, all of whom continued on to higher education. More than half of these students earned merit scholarships totaling more than $6.5 million. Extracurricular activities complement the academic program, including 14 varsity sports, opportunities in the performing and visual arts, community service, musical groups, and many clubs. Regardless of where the individual student's talents lie, whether in academics, athletics, or in extracurricular activities, IND strives to enable each and every student to experience success. That success generates the confidence and poise that allows students to reach the fullness of her potential in college and beyond. In 2009, the school successfully launched a 1:1 Student-Tablet PC Program with its freshman class. Through the careful integration of technology across the curriculum, teachers create a learning environment that is more individualized and tailored to each student's needs. By providing each student with her own tablet PC, IND ensures that technology is an affordable, accessible, and indispensible educational tool. Also in 2009, IND launched a new Biomedical Sciences Program. A four-year course of study, this program augments the science curriculum and provides opportunities for students in a project based and problem solving environment. Students are challenged to think creatively, work collaboratively, prepare presentations, and explore the variety of healthcare career options. This program complements IND's 1:1 Student-Tablet PC Program. Visit http://www.indofmd.org/about to learn more about IND.
