School Notes:

St. Mary’s Ryken is one of 13 Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools in the United States. The years a student spends at a Xaverian school are marked by college preparatory, challenging academics and by many opportunities: the sharing of talents through community service; the forming of lifelong friendships; the camaraderie of athletics; and the partaking in celebrations of faith.

To prepare students to take their place in a world that is increasingly global and continually changing, SMR adopted the 1:1 iPad program. With an iPad, students have access to interactive textbooks and thousands of educational apps, take notes and organize them on the iPad, and design interactive reports for classroom presentations.

For advanced students, there are accelerated curriculum concentrations requiring a more rigorous course of study. Selection is determined by the student’s high school placement test results and letters of recommendation. Concentrations are available in: Computer Science; STEM-X; Medicine & Health Sciences; Language Arts & Social Sciences; and International Relations & Global Studies.

Approximately 99% of each graduating class pursues a higher education at a college, university or military service academy. The Class of 2013 received over $12.6 million in scholarship offers.

There is a separate application for merit scholarships in the areas of academics, leadership and fine arts. Please visit the Admissions page on the website for more information and application deadlines.
