    How does a firefighter find a fire hydrant that is buried in snow? The answer is – they look for those white and orange bands 9 feet up the utility poles along Georgetown’s roadways. The highly reflective aluminum flashing shows up well when lights are shone on them after dark. Some of these bands in Georgetown have been missing or in need of repair.

    NEWBURYPORT and mdash; Students at the Immaculate Conception School have donated school supplies to Haitian children, who will soon have a new school to use them in, thanks to IC-Haiti, the church's all-volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to helping the poor in Haiti.

    Spaghetti Supper Fundraiser A spaghetti supper fundraiser will be held Saturday, July 25, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Union Congregational Church. Cost is $6 individual, $20 family, $7 take-out dinner. On Sunday, July 26, at 10 a.m., there will be a worship service, a service of blessing for the Ministry of Nursing. At 11:15 a.m., there will be a coffee hour. 350 Main St., Amesbury.

    NEWBURYPORT and mdash; Father Paul Berube retired five years ago from the Immaculate Conception Church, but his retirement has been less than typical. He has spent his time off raising money for the construction and maintenance of a school in Fond des Blancs, Haiti.
