A former Rhode Island dive shop owner convicted of killing his wife on a Caribbean scuba outing in 1999 was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in prison. David Swain was found guilty of murder nearly a decade after Shelley Tyre drowned while diving at a sunken ship off Tortola. Tyre was the middle school principal at Thayer Academy in Braintree.

SCHOOL FOOTBALL ROUNDUP: Junior QB Charlie Storey’s big day (196 yards rushing, three TDs) lifted Milton Academy to a 24-17 road win over The Governor’s Academy on Friday. Other Ledgerland winners included Hull, Scituate, Rockland, Hanover, Pembroke and Norwell.
