School Notes Overview:

Atkinson Youth Services Non-public School is dedicated to teaching students the skills they need to return successfully back to the public school setting. By teaching students how to take responsibility for their own lives, and using Dr. William Glasser's model of behavior, the staff and teachers at Atkinson Youth Services School guide and enlighten students as to how their own behavior affects their lives and those around them. Our school has a simple mission - to provide a safe and supportive environment where students are empowered to become life-long learners and responsible citizens. We do this by teaching our students recognize their own needs and to make choices that will fulfill those needs in a safe and appropriate manner. We break these needs down to simple, easy to understand concepts that we teach the students. The primary goal of Atkinson Youth Services School is to provide an environment where quality education may take place. It is also the goal to meet the criteria established by the IEP of each student and to provide the opportunity for each student to meet all the educational requirements of the school district they are referred by. Finally it is the goal that each student achieves his or her maximum potential educationally, emotionally, and socially. ...read more
