    Harry Glenn Alford, 57, died peacefully surrounded by his wife and two children on October 19, 2009. He worked as an electronic technician for the FAA for 36.5 years. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Army and a honorary member of the Arkabutla Fire Department.

    Phillip Correro, a junior at Magnolia Heights School in Tate Co., has been selected to play with the Baseball Factory/Under Armour National Junior Teams at the Arizona Junior Fall Invitational in Phoenix, Oct. 21-25.     When most people saw the Kirk-Clarksdale Lee score, they thought it was another blowout loss for the Raiders. It was far from that. Kirk got in an early hole trailing 12-0 against the Colts. They would get as close as 15-12 midway through the third period.

    Lola Crockett Bernard, 65, of Arkabutla, Miss., passed away August 22, 2009 at North Oak Regional Medical Center. Services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 24 at Pate-Jones Funeral Home. Burial followed at Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
