The Lorge School

The Lorge School is a special education program which serves the needs of emotionally disturbed and learning disabled students. Founded in 1961 by a group of parents who were advocating for the special needs of their children, the school has become a place where the staff provides a warm, nurturing environment. The focus is on the strengths and talents of each student. The goal is to concentrate on each student's unique learning style and to individualize the program in order to optimize learning and emphasize potential for academic, social and emotional growth. All students receive individual and group counseling, provided by licenses Social Workers. Where indicated in the Individual Education Plan, some students receive Speech and Occupational therapy. A staff of specially trained individuals is available to assist in implementing behavior intervention plans where necessary.
