School Reviews

  • Recommended February 28, 2014 - Salisbury Academy is a wonderful environment for its students to learn and grow to become academically successful as their education continues into high school and college. The Core Knowledge curriculum is outstanding. Salisbury Academy students are "thinkers" not "memorizers." The staff is warm and engaged. The current administration has done an excellent job ensuring that the school is not parent run, a problem from which so many independent schools suffer. The athletic teams always display sportsmanship and compete hard on the court or field. The art teacher is outstanding and universally adored by her students. My favorite part of SA though, is that every morning, rain or shine, my child and I are greeted by name, with a big smile, by the Head of School or a teacher or an administrator. It makes for an excellent start to the day for my student and candidly, for me. I cannot recommend Salisbury Academy highly enough. - Posted by Parent
  • Recommended February 28, 2014 - How best to describe Salisbury Academy? The atmosphere is one of peaceful joy; you can practically feel it when you first visit. The head of school is always ready to listen, and the staff are clued-in and responsive. They really work to bring out the best in your child. The space itself is clean and spacious, bright and inviting. There are sports, art, music, p.e;, after school clubs and after school child- care. Chapel is held every Thursday morning in the gym, with parents and friends always welcome. The school offers financial aid and flexible payment options for tuition and fees. The Core Knowledge curriculum is broad as well as deep, full of hands-on activities and field trips. Our daughter explains it this way; "at my old school, we only did science on paper. At Salisbury Academy, we perform experiments just like real scientists!" Conversations about her day have included such topics as Ancient African Kingdoms and the Westward Expansion. Since joining the student body in 4th grade, her math skills have skyrocketed and she no longer speaks of it as "scary" subject. The curriculum is partnered with Core Values, such as wonder, love of country, generosity. The students are given every opportunity to put these values into practice, in daily school life as well as out in the community. As a parent, I always know what''s going on at our school. I know about all the field trips, the events, what''s going on in our daughter''s classroom. Think about that for a moment, and see if you can describe your current school in this manner. If you are on the fence about Salisbury Academy, I highly suggest you come for a visit and experience Salisbury''s best kept secret! - Posted by Parent
  • Recommended February 28, 2014 - Our son attended Salisbury Academy for K-8. He is currently attending a college prep high school. We are very pleased that SA prepared him so well. The curriculum has not been any problem and he appears to be ahead of many other students in his classes. The teachers at SA know where your child needs to be and guides them to that place. Sometimes it even takes one on one but they get the job done! - Posted by Parent

  • Recommended January 31, 2013 - Salisbury Academy is an excellent school with outstanding teachers. This school does a great job of offering challenging academics through "hands on" active learning experiences. The children are encouraged by a loving staff and greeted with warm smiles each morning. This is a school that teaches Christian values and still prays. We are very thankful for Salisbury Academy! - Posted by Parent
