School Notes Overview: |
Los Encinos, independent and non-profit, is a small elementary school with a large commitment to every child. We provide a warm, caring environment where children in Grades K through 6 are encouraged to develop confidence, independence and pleasure in learning. By design, the academic program is flexible enough to accommodate a variety of learning styles in a supportive atmosphere where individual progress is greatly valued. We respect differences among children and have a high regard for effort. We believe personal success is a child's best motivator. Los Encinos is committed to challenging students and to supporting them. Our goal is to prepare students with a strong foundation of skills. Teachers, serving as facilitators for learning, provide a variety of opportunities to develop critical thinking and problem-solving strategies. Teamwork and cooperation are integrated throughout the program. This approach emphasizes the importance of intellectual pursuits, explored both independently and cooperatively. In addition, our rich humanities curriculum reinforces the values of diversity and mutual respect. We present moral values, character education, and opportunities for community service at every level. We strive to prepare our students for the demands of a changing world. As a small school, our reach extends not only to the child, but also to the family. Parental commitment is the foundation of the Los Encinos community. The school welcomes and encourages parents to become involved in their child's educational experience. ...read more
