East Lake Academy offers an accelerated academic curriculum one full grade ahead of other area curricula and infused with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Faith.
Beginning in Pre-school, East Lake solidifies a foundation of fundamental reading, writing and math skills which is the most crucial aspect of academic development.
The second year of Pre-school is a kindergarten curriculum where students begin reading at age 4 with a proven phonics program.
The teaching staff's mission is to bring out the best gifts in every student thus encouraging them to work at their greatest, age appropriate potential.
East Lake Academy strives to build the complete person in its students – developing their full potential by teaching the mind, educating the heart and forming the will.
We aim to serve the new evangelization by promoting in our students a strong balance of academic excellence, spiritual growth and personal development – thus creating future leaders for the Church and society.
The best way to see the difference is to visit for a tour and witness the students and faculty in action!

School Notes:

    • East Lake Academy is a private, independent Roman Catholic school in Lake Forest, Illinois that has canonical approval, support and encouragement of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Our educational program consists of three essential elements: teaching, educating and forming.
    • To teach means to provide the student with the intellectual capabilities, content and skills needed to respond to the demands of today's society.
    • To educate means to train the student in the habit of intellectual rigor, structured reasoning, and in the appreciation of beauty; it means to cultivate sensitivity, memory, imagination; and finally, to develop the art of communication and the ability to express oneself clearly and elegantly.
    • To form is to lead the student to become a person for others, with an upright ethical code, sensitivity toward the needs of others - especially the most disadvantaged - and openness to human and spiritual values. In this way students are prepared not just for professional success, but also for their self-realization as persons and authentic Christians in the various facets of their personal and professional lives.
