School Notes Overview:
Kingswood Montessori Academy was founded in 1968, Kingswood now operates under the direction of Mrs. Calabrese’s son, David, himself a Kingswood alumnus. Mr. Calabrese received a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Education from Florida International University and a Master’s Degree in Administration from Barry University. He completed the Montessori training course with Pan American Montessori Society. Although officially retired, Mrs. Elizabeth Calabrese remains active in the school as a consultant. The teaching staff at Kingswood have all successfully completed their Montessori training from accredited training schools. Elementary teachers hold college degrees, as well. The teaching assistants receive on-the-job training and outside seminars, and receive thorough background screening before employment. All teachers and assistants comply with the ongoing training classes required by the Florida Department of Children and Families. The program includes classes for toddler, preschool, and elementary levels. Kingswood is accredited by the Association of Independent Schools of Florida (AISF), the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the National Council for Private School Accreditation and has been awarded the Gold Seal of Excellence by the Florida Department of Children and Families.
