    Smitha Milli looked around Franklin Middle School and felt something was lacking. So the eighth-grader did something about it. She wrote an e-mail to her principal, asking for something extra students can do with math. Soon afterward, the Champaign school's math team was formed, coached by two sixth-grade math teachers, Lisa Krause and Tracey Jones.
