Founded in 1957, the Priory is a coeducational day and boardingschool located in Portola Valley, California, 40 minutes south ofSan Francisco near Stanford University and Silicon Valley.The Priory is an independent, Catholic, college preparatory schoolin the Benedictine tradition with an enrollment of 368 students inmiddle school and high school.
Today the 50-acre rural campusmaintains its original tradition of being a small community bychoice, dedicated to a values-centered and academically rigorouseducation.
The high school of 273 students includes a boardingprogram for approximately 50 students from the western UnitedStates and throughout the world.
International in flavor, thisyear, 27 flags fly in the Dining Hall, representing the homecountries of Priory students over the years.
The educationalexperience is centered on the values of individuality, community,integrity, hospitality and spirituality.
Teachers encourageinitiative, independent pursuit of knowledge, critical thinkingskills and problem solving abilities.
The college prep academicprogram is supplemented with fine and performing arts, competitiveathletics, service learning, and a strong program of co-curricularactivities.
Classes are typically 12-18 students with astudent-teacher ratio of 7:1.
