Notes for Prospective Students

Applicants must complete the following process in order to be considered for admission to the Centreville Layton School: 1. Call Centreville Layton School or complete the Inquiry Form to set up a meeting and tour with the Admissions Team. 2. Meet with a member of the Admissions Team.  Please bring any applicable reports, IEPs, evaluations, or pertinent information with you for review. PreK- 6th Grade Applicants must complete and return the application for admission, the Parent/Guardian Questionnaire, and the Parental/Guardian Consent to Observe form, along with the processing fee ($75.00). Applicants can view an application here. The Admissions Office will review the materials mentioned above and contact you regarding the remaining steps in our admissions process. If it is determined to be appropriate: 1. We will set up a time to observe your child in his or her school setting to assess their academic learning behaviors, level of engagement and participation, and to understand the learning environment to which they are accustomed.  The observation is helpful in determining classroom placement for step. 2.We will arrange a time for your child to visit Centreville Layton School.  Typically, your child will spend two consecutive days attending classes, taking a mathematics placement test, meeting with the reading specialist and, when appropriate, a language therapist and/or occupational therapist.   The visit is important to allow the Admission Team to work with your child and determine if your child will benefit from Centreville Layton School`s program. 3. When an admissions file is complete (all materials mentioned above and documents have been received) the admissions committee will meet to discuss the candidate and convey an admission decision.  The parents/guardians will then be notified of the decision. 7th  12th Grade Applicants must complete and return the application for admission, the Parent/Guardian Questionnaire, and Student Questionnaire, along with the processing fee ($75.00). Parents must sign and submit the following forms to the applicant`s current school: Math Teacher Recommendation, English Teacher Recommendation and Transcript/Testing Release. The Admissions Team will review the above mentioned materials and contact you regarding the remaining steps in our admissions process. If it is determined to be appropriate: 1. We will arrange a time for your child to visit Centreville Layton School. Visitors will spend a day with a student ambassador from their prospective grade level. The visit includes participation in a full day of classes, submitting a writing sample and interviewing with Mr. Reese, Head of School. The visit is important to allow the Admission Team to work with your child and determine if your child will benefit from Centreville Layton School`s program. 2. When an admissions file is complete (all materials mentioned above and documents have been received) the admissions committee will meet to discuss the candidate and convey an admission decision.  The parents/guardians will then be notified of the decision. What to expect throughout the Admissions Process Centreville Layton School prides itself on an Admissions Process that is thorough, supportive, and responsive.  The information provided by families will be kept confidential through this process, and testing and IEPs will be reviewed by the teacher and therapists who will be working with your child through the visitation process and upon enrollment. Admissions decisions are made with the best interests of the child and the family at the center, and acceptances are based on whether the child will benefit from the programs and support services that are offered.
