Notes for Prospective Students
At Long Ridge, class sizes are limited to enable us to
individualize each child's learning experience. Admission is based
on a combination of criteria, depending on the age of the child.
Children applying for Beginners and Nursery admission visit the
classroom with their parents. This informal meeting allows the
teachers, the Director of Admissions and the Head of School to meet
and observe the child. Admission for students from Kindergarten
through Grade Five is based on a classroom visit, individual
screening results and the previous school record. The school has
rolling admission, but it is advantageous to apply early. We
typically begin accepting applications in October for the following
school year. Interested families are encouraged to visit the school
and to observe classes in action. The school conducts private tours
and small admissions events mostly throughout the fall and winter.
The Long Ridge School admits boys and girls of any race, color,
national or ethnic origin. The Long Ridge School is approved by the
State of Connecticut Board of Education and is an accredited member
of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) and the
Connecticut Association of Independent Schools (CAIS).
