Notes for Prospective Students
Providing an education for your child is one of the biggest
responsibilities you have as a parent. Virginia Academy
desires to assist you with this awesome responsibility.
Although we relish the opportunity to be a part of the
education process for every child, we know Virginia Academy may not
be the best fit for every child. While Virginia Academy has
rolling enrollment, there is an application process which has
varying requirements by age and/or grade. An
application must be filled out for each student. A school
health entrance form must be completed for each child and kept on
file in the school office. There is no entrance test for 2, 3, 4,
and 5 year old students. However, it should be understood
that the program we offer is academically oriented. The 3 and 4
year old curriculum requires that children be fully potty-trained
and ready to respond to periods of instruction as well as be able
to adjust to a structured routine. The kindergarten curriculum is a
challenging full-day program comparable to most 1st grade
curricula. Disclosure and submittal of Individualized Education
Program (IEP) to our school is mandatory in all grades (preschool
through high school). Students 6th grade through 12th grade
must interview with a principal and provide
transcripts/standardized test scores. Students may also be
required to take assessments for acceptance and placement. Advanced
placement must be approved by a principal. At no time will we
advance place in the preschool classroom. For preschool class
assignments, your child`s age as of September 30th of the current
school year will determine his/her placement.
