This February, Matignon and Arlington High School had an amazing opportunity to visit one of the worldâ's most beautiful cities, London, England! Not only did we have so much fun, we also learned a great deal of British history. We saw many famous sights throughout London, took many incredible excursions, ate at culturally diverse restaurants, and saw three spectacular theatre productions. I have always had an obsession with London and seeing these places and hearing the history was very exciting.
Seeing the famous sites that I have only seen in movies and books was surreal. None of us could stop snapping pictures. Big Ben, Parliament, Buckingham Palace, and Tower Bridge were larger than life. We also visited Kensington Palace where Princess Diana lived, the Tower of London which houses the crowned jewels, Saint Paulâ's Cathedral, Prince Albert Memorial, and Trafalgar Square. Besides its famous lions and Lord Nelsonâ's column, Trafalgar Square has a statute of George Washington. I found it interesting that because George Washington had vowed to never step on English soil again, the statute was placed on soil shipped from Mount Vernon in order to honor his wish. We also visited the British Museum that houses the Rosetta Stone, the key to deciphering hieroglyphics, as well as the Tate Modern containing many unique pieces of modern art. And of course we shopped at Harrods, one of the largest department stores in the world! Harrods has everything from top designers to a spectacular food emporium carrying everything from fresh meats and seafood to fine teas, chocolates, and desserts. Our trip would not have been complete without a ride on the London Eye, a huge ferris wheel-like structure with glass observation rooms and an incredible view of London. Even learning how to navigate through the London Tube (subway) system was fun as there were constant reminders to âœmind the gapâ

Matignon is my second family. I received a lot of support from Matignon faculty and staffs.

I can''t say enough about Matignon High School. My children (twins) had a hard time in a public middle school and after looking at different private schools for high school they both picked Matignon. They said is was an easy decision because when they shadowed there "it was like we had been going there already. People treated us like we were students there and everyone was friendly." They were behind a bit when they started but the teachers have been great getting them caught up to where they need to be! They are now sophomores and are doing very well. They love their school and are proud to go there. I can''t speak highly enough about the faculty, the Principal and Vice Principal. As Christians is was important we found a school who shares our values and beliefs... I did not want God shut out when the school doors closed! I consider myself lucky to have found this school! To see my kids happy and doing well means the world to me and my husband
