Our son started at St. John's Prep with the inaugural sixth grade class. Initially, we thought he may only attend for middle school, but we have been so happy with his experience, he is now in his sophomore year at the high school. He was given the choice to choose another private or public school for high school, but HE wanted to stay. The top selling points for us are the high quality of his classes (challenging and rigorous curriculum with strong teacher support), the variety and unlimited opportunities in athletics, extracurricular, and the arts (basketball, mountain biking, Celtic band, investment club, crew, theater, robotics, etc, etc.), and the character of his peers. The entire school (from administration to students) celebrates and encourages each person's unique talents. His top selling points are the open campus, the friendships and Prep pride, the relationships with his teachers, and the lack of "drama" in the classroom - the students can be themselves. The dining hall food is a plus as well!

We moved to the North Shore Boston area 5 years ago and were not familiar with St. John's Prep. We met a number of young men from the Prep and we were very impressed with their character and intelligence and began looking at the school for our son. He began at the Prep in their first 6th grade class ever at the new SJP Middle School. Ever since, we have been incredibly impressed with how organized, thoughtful and proactive the school is. The leadership and faculty are fantastic. Our son is now in the 9th grade at SJP and loving it. He is challenged, but also completely supported. This place knows how to teach and grow young men. We couldn't be more pleased.

My son graduated from "The Prep" in 1989. His education there was top notch and had a great impact on his furthering of his education all the way to his PhD and now being a distinguished political scientist and author. He definitely learned responsibility and dedication from all the teachers. While at STJ, he started a jazz band since there was no music program at the time. His idea was well accepted by STJ which shows the diversity allowed by this great school. Would recommend St. John's to all who want a quality education. Money well spent!

My son started six grade this year at SJP. It's been amazing!!! The attention to getting the boys adjusted and organized have led to a stress free start. My son comes home happy everyday!!!after our back to school night and covering the curriculum testing and grading I confidently know this was the right choice for my son. At St John's prep they just get it ! How to teach boys to learn and most importantly are learning about themselves as a person. I highly recommended SJP!
