Field hockey: The Villa Maria Academy field hockey squad fell, 3-0, to District 11 champion Lehighton in the semifinals of the PIAA Class AA championships at Emmaus Tuesday. It was the second year in a row the Hurricanes lost in the semis at the same field.

Cross-country: Academy of Notre Dame traveled to the Carlisle Cross Country Invitational Saturday to compete against 75 schools from across the state last weekend. Notre Dame, the Pennsylvania No. 5, and Emmaus (No. 3) tied as both teams scored 116 with Notre Dame winning on the tiebreaker.
