School Notes Overview:
The primary school programme (four years old through to grade 5) is a dual language program. All students spend one half of their time in an English language classroom and the other half in a second language. There are three language tracks: English-French, English-German, English-Spanish. The Primary School English-French programme is accredited by the French Ministry of Education. The Secondary School programme is academic in nature, with the International Baccalaureate being the goal. Students also take US college entrance tests. The faculty come from 33 different countries. Each teacher is fully qualified and experienced and shares the school philosophy of providing the best possible education for each student, one with intellectual rigor, human understanding and respect, high international standards and a global perspective. Approximately 50% of the students are American, with the other 50% representing 55 different countries. About half of the non-American students are permanent US residents, with the balance being on fixed term assignments to Atlanta. AIS is housed in an historic former public school in the north Atlanta suburb of Buckhead. The four buildings on the 14-acre campus have been fully renovated and offer a complete range of modern educational facilities.
